On October 15, 2025, Urban & Kemmler, together with M Assist GmbH, is the first medium-sized medical supply store in Bavaria to switch to fully digital billing in accordance with Section 302 SGB V and Section 105 SGB XI in an image link process with AOK Bayern. The company has thus achieved an important milestone in the digitization of aid billing.

With the new process, there will be no need to send paper documents altogether in the future. The original documents are digitized, signed in a qualified manner and transmitted in accordance with the BSI TR-Resiscan technical guideline. The electronic signature ensures that all documents are genuine, unalterable and forgery-proof, while remaining accessible only to authorized recipients. This fully meets the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation and statutory health insurance funds.
“It is a milestone for us to finally be able to bill digitally and save ourselves the hassle of printing and sorting paper receipts,” says Bernd Urban, managing director of Sanitätshaus Urban & Kemmler GmbH. “Intensive and very efficient cooperation with both AOK Bayern and M Assist GmbH was a prerequisite for the success of the project. ”
The project focused on the development of an interface in accordance with the technical requirements of the IDAS regulation, taking into account the contract constellation with AOK Bayern. Together with M Assist consultants, the interface was designed, integrated into the existing Acriba software, tested and optimized. After a successful testing phase, the system went live without a hitch. The solution is designed to be software-independent and can also be used in other system environments — a central step towards standardized and future-proof billing.

“As Michael Messner, managing director of M Assist GmbH, points out, the consistent rapid coordination with AOK Bayern is particularly noteworthy. As a result, the interfaces and the transition from paper to digital processes — for example in the case of existing permanent regulations — have so far worked unprecedentedly smoothly and extremely efficiently. ”
With this conversion, Sanitätshaus Urban & Kemmler GmbH is sending a clear signal of progress and efficiency in aid billing. The project shows how close collaboration, technical know-how and practice-oriented process design lead to sustainable results. In the future, too, the company plans to continue its successful partnership with M Assist and strategically further develop and successfully implement further digitization initiatives
